Chile Rellenos are a passion that I inherited from my mother. It is pretty much her favorite food, so she made them often while I was growing up. Ever since I moved to the area, I have been looking for a well made chile relleno -- it is largely how I judge a Mexican restaurant.

Here is a quick review of the rellenos at some other establishments in the area:

• Bubba Garcia's -- Not on the menu.
• La Fuente de Pablo -- Filled with meat, strangely round shaped and tiny. Nothing to write home about.
• Cilantro's -- Was my local favorite before I discovered Los Arcos. Made with good peppers, but stuffed with meat instead of cheese.

The first time I went to Los Arcos, I had to try the chile rellenos. I was in total shock and awe. They know how to make them and they are perfect! A gorgeous large pepper, stuffed with cheese and not meat, heavily covered in an egg batter, fried to perfection, and covered with a homemade salsa verde. It is so good that I have a hard time not ordering it every time I go there -- even though I go to Los Arcos all the time.

If that was not enough -- they make their own salsa and it is absolutely devine.  They make their own tortillas, have $2 margaritas, and serve a very unusual, yet awesome Tequila pasta dish.
