Mexican Coke -- The REAL Real Thing

Since 1985, Coke in America has been made with the evil and ubiquitous high fructose corn syrup (HFC). The switch was not to improve taste or make Coke healthier -- it simply costs less to produce.

Pepsi and most others have followed suit with the switch to HFC and as a result, sodas don't taste quite right and are even worse for your health. To add insult to injury, most sodas are sold in plastic bottles or aluminum cans which further degrade taste (and potentially with plastic bottles introduce even more health concerns).

Like having your own personal time machine; Mexican Coke delivers the awesomeness that is REAL Coke. The REAL Real Thing, if you like. It is made with sugar and is in a glass bottle. Make sure you stick the 12 oz bottles, as the liter bottles I believe are still nasty old HFC.

You can find these locally at the La Salsa Taqueria, which also makes amazing authentic Mexican food -- and also has the best sandwich in town.

Note that they also sell Mexican Pepsi, but I think that is made with HFC. So stick with the Coke.

"old" coke

Posted by Jud McCranie at July 09, 2009 10:42 AM
PEpsi recently came out with "Pepsi Throwback", which is made with sugar. My wife got some of those.

I got one of these Cokes at City Market Seafood without realizing it. My daughter wanted a Coke and we looked in the refrigerated case. They had a few small bottles and one tall bottle of Coke. I commented that Cokes never came in bottles that size back in my day (although some other drinks did). My daughter wanted the tall bottle so that is what I got for her.

TY for the tip!

I had heard about these "cokes" but had no idea where to get them locally.
La Salsa Taqueria is practically across the street.
Thank you for sharing this.

Happy to Help
