Review: New Diner in Town, Ms. June's Darien Diner
A new diner has opened up in Darien and serves up some very tasty food at great prices.
I am pretty much a sucker for any place with the word "Diner" in the name. I love diners and they are one of the few things I miss about big city living up in the Northeast. We really do not have a true diner here. Sure places like 4th of May and Barbara Jean's are diner-like in a way, but something is still lacking from that classic Baltimore or Jersey diner vibe.
Ms. June's Darien Diner just opened a few weeks ago and I have been excited to try it out. Ms. June's is open for breakfast, lunch, and dinner. We got there for a late lunch and were greeted by a nice homey atmosphere.

The lunch menu has a variety of sandwiches and salads. Sandwiches include classics such as a BLT and tuna melts. They have a fried chicken salad that sounds pretty nice, along with some other salads.
I started with the soup special that was a Mexican chicken corn chowder. It exceeded all of my expectations. It was amazing and the best soup I have had in a good long time. The soup was so good my daughter begged me to order her an order for herself.
Specials of the day
After the soup, my kids had sandwiches and I had a daily special, the fish fry. The sandwiches were all really good and served on nice and thick layers of toast. The fried fish was outstanding. Lightly battered, perfectly fried, not greasy, and served with really excellent homemade coleslaw. And for only around $6, I could not believe the 3 huge fillets in front of me. It was quite a feast for all of us.
It got even better when I received the check of less than $20 total!
So to review -- great food, cozy atmosphere, good service, and a great value. A total home run and I will be back there very soon and often.
