Review: Wasabi Japanese Restaurant
Does the new mainland sushi joint stack up to the competition (Fancy Q)?
I love Fancy-Q on the Island, but prefer to stay in Brunswick when I can (less traffic and hassle -- more locals too). I was pretty excited to see a new sushi joint on Cypress Mill (where Allen's BBQ used to be). Here is a quick review:
Food
We ordered a variety of dishes. My son had some salmon, while the rest of us had sushi. The salmon was excellent and at a very good price. The sushi was all decent, but overall was somewhat bland in terms of presentation and flavor. Better than something like Tokyo Joe's, but a notch below Fancy-Q.
Service
Service was just OK. Waitress was attentive, but food came out in such a staggered order that all of us were done eating before my daughter had her meal in front of her. I suppose they still have some kinks to work out.
Atmosphere
Zero atmosphere. Felt like being in an Allen's BBQ turned into a sushi place.
Conclusion
Good place to go when you just do not have the time or desire to go to Fancy-Q. But still a solid notch or two below the overall food quality, presentation and service at the excellent Q.

Huge Plus Compared to Fancy-Q Worth Mentioning
Guess it is Wasabi for me next time, or at least until the summer passes.
