It starts with a cake that is perfectly moist and has a wonderful texture. Then It is topped with a creamy frosting that I think is made with cream cheese and whipped cream (I am told it is a secret mother's recipe) with grated bits of Hershey bars nestled in there.

Whatever it is -- I have yet to experience a better slice of chocolate cake in the Golden Isles.

What makes it even better is the great atmosphere, service, and downright southern hospitality of Daddy Cate's. Dee Dee greets everyone with a smile and has an amazing ability to recall the names of just about everyone that walks in. It feels like the Golden Isles version of Cheers, only customers are downing coffee instead of brew.

If chocolate isn't your thing, they also serve a pineapple/orange cake that is pretty amazing as well. Not to mention ice cream, fruit smoothies, frozen coffees, and many more goodies.

As a customer sitting next to me just said when she was asked how her muffin was -- "life is good."
