Should Jekyll Island really have a bustling downtown hub like visitors might see in Savannah or Charleston, SC?

The Jekyll Island development story has made it all the way to the Pittsburgh Post-Gazette. Not sure why I find that interesting, but I do. That seems like a far away newspaper to be taking about Jekyll.

What I find even more interesting (and disturbing) is Jekyll Island being mentioned in the same breath of Savannah and Charleston, SC. I think that mindset is a big part of the missteps with the development plans. Jekyll Is nothing like Savannah or Charleston and never should be.
