Glynn County has a ton of toxic waste left over from the past, yet local businesses continue to pollute us daily. Who can help us?

This is a beautiful area to live -- and outside of the bugs, there are not many negatives about the Golden Isles. But there is one very ugly truth. Environmentally this area has a lot of improvement to make. Did you know that Glynn County is home to 17 identified hazardous waste sites, four Superfund Sites, and four actively polluting industries? Those are not good stats and we can and need to do better.

These irresponsible companies have largely done what they have wanted in the past (and present), with little fear of repercussion. So who is watching them?

There is a local outfit that is putting pressure on polluters and the EPA (who has largely failed to protect us here in Glynn County). They are called the Glynn Environmental Coalition (GEC).

The GEC has for more than 18 years, worked diligently to make Glynn County a safe and healthy place to raise our families by assuring a clean environment and healthy economy for coastal Georgia.

They have a nice new website, where you can read about the work they are doing and local issues of concern. You can also pledge a donation to help keep the GEC in business and working for you to help give us clean air and water in the Golden Isles.
