Security Systems on the Cheap
Good and easy to install systems are cheaper than you think -- and with no monthly fees.
Surely many of you are feeling jumpy lately with 10 murders in the last week. I know I am!
I had been thinking about a security system for some time now and the disturbing recent events were the motivation I needed.
The prospect of another monthly bill was unattractive, so I went searching for a do-it-yourself kind of system.
After researching, I found something on Amazon that I am very pleased with. It met all of my requirements:
- Easy to install on my own
- Flexible, can easily add extra components as needed
- Can dial phone numbers after alarm goes off
- Inexpensive
- No monthly fees
What I found was theSkylink SC-1000 Complete Wireless Alarm System. The SC-1000 comes with two door monitors, a motion sensor, dialing box, control and alarm box, and a remote control.
I still needed some extra remotes and door modules in addition. So I ordered a smaller alarm package. This was cheaper than buying them individually (and got another alarm box for free basically). The Skylink SC-10 Security System Basic Kit
comes with two remotes, two door monitors, and an alarm box. That gave me about all I needed.
Installation was very easy and done in just a few hours. The manuals were pretty clear and everything worked at promised and expected. One item required getting a special manual online, but it was easy enough to locate and download.
Overall, I am happy with Skylink system and surprised to have such a nice system for only about $250 total.
It turns out that securing your home does not have to be expensive or difficult after all.
